Storm in a Cup

Dimitris Economou studied at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), with Christos Samaras, and at York University (UK), with William Brooks. His awards have included the RPS Composition Prize (UK, 2009) and the Charities Philharmonic Young Composers Award (UK, 2009). Economou’s work has received performances by the Philharmonia Orchestra, Chimera Ensemble and Lontano, and has been heard at Royal Festival Hall and the Athens Megaron Concert Hall. His chamber work Storm in a cup was the winning work in the Sounds New/Coups de Vents 3-yr Interreg IV A funded project, the International Composer Pyramid. Recordings of his music have appeared on the Dissonance and Irida labels.
