Programme Note

Und is waiting for someone. He is late. She is suspended in time outside of time. The bell rings. Is it him ? Is this a love story or a fight to the death? Und inhabits waiting through language, while outside the world becomes more and more oppressive and her most intimate and radical contradictions come to the surface.

The music written for Und is a solo symphony, a monologue in which every word in the score resonates and echoes.

Through the poetic and brutal writing of Howard Barker and the sensitive and powerful music of Daniel D'Adamo, this is the journey without beginning or end of a woman in transformation, underscoring one of the greatest tragedies of contemporary humanity as it prepares to enter the Myth.
