The odd time signatures or metric units of 53/8, 43/8 and 31/8 are juxtaposed with even-numbered patterns of 52/8, 42/8 and 30/8, with minimal shifts in the pulse centre throughout.

This supposedly complicated construction is broken up by rhythms that are predominantly easy to hear in beats of 3 and 4.
